Transport for London

Transport for London (TfL) is the integrated body responsible for the Capital’s transport system. Its role is to implement the Mayor’s Transport Strategy for London and manage the transport services across the Capital, for which the Mayor has responsibility. TfL is accountable for both the planning and delivery of transport facilities, which enables it to take a truly integrated approach to how people, goods and services move around London. TfL manages London’s buses, London Underground (LU), Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London Trams and the Dial a ride scheme. It also runs London River Services (LRS), London’s Congestion Charging scheme, 580km network of main roads, and regulates taxis and the private hire trade.

Travel Demand Management Team


The role of Transport for London’s Travel Demand Management Team is to promote the use of sustainable forms of transport and so by encourage people to reduce their reliance on the private car for short journeys.

Transport for London's Travel Awareness Team. I Move London run awareness campaigns across London designed to promote sustainable forms of transport.

Corporate Scheme

TfL is offering a support package, worth up to £20,000, to large employers including NHS Trusts, to help them develop and implement their own travel plans.

The Enterprise Scheme

The Enterprise scheme has been developed specifically for small and medium sized employers in London, to help them reduce the number of car trips they generate and promote sustainable travel.

Sub Regional Transport Partnership Groups

London is divided up into five sub-regional partnership groups, who play a key role in delivering London's sustainable transport agenda.

Borough Support

Each of London's 32 borough councils provide a range of local services from highways departments, cycling officers, planning and policy teams to environmental campaign teams.
